Growing tourism has significantly aided the market. The tourism industry has witnessed a continuous rise in the number of foreign tourists in the country over the last 15 years. Most international visitors in the country are from Asia Pacific region followed by the European tourists. Thailand witnessed over 32 million international visitors by in 2017.
Strong growth rates in Thailand’s tourism industry have resulted in increased investments in the hotels of the country. Major players which have led to an expansion of the hotel industry of Thailand are Accor, InterContinental, Starwood and Marriot. Some of domestic hotel groups have also gained significant popularity over the recent past. Such players include Centara Hotels and Resorts, Dusit International and Minor International. Apart from Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya, the regions of Koh Lak, Krabi and Koh Samui are emerging as the preferred locations for setting up new hotels. The continuous rise in the number of hotels over the years has assisted in the growth of revenues generated by the catering companies operating in Thailand.
