Belgium Freight Forwarding Market is Expected to Cross USD 30 Billion by 2025: Ken Research

      • Partnership of Antwerp Port with a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports to adopt blockchain is a significant change to port management. Soon, other Belgium ports are expected to introduce BlockChain Technology.
      • Rail infrastructure is being streamlined by reducing the number of rail logistics centers from 62 to 50 by 2022 and introducing two new tracks between Ghent and Bruges.
      • Air Freight Capacity is expected to increase by 3% till at least 2025 and is also likely to rise further till 2030.
Cost Reduction by Artificial Intelligence: Large players such as DHL Belgium are adopting revolutionary AI technologies, which can accurately forecast demand, costs, capacities and delays, and transit times. Efficiency will increase immensely leading to higher production as well as reduced costs from lower fuel consumption (about 5%) of self-driven vehicles.
Establishment of E-commerce Trade Hub by Alibaba: Alibaba Group Holdings to launch e-commerce trade hub in Belgium which will attract investments in logistics infrastructure, operations for which begin from 2021. This will boost cross border trade potential, especially with China.
Increase of Sea Freight Volumes due to Brexit: After Brexit, customs tariffs for goods flowing to Britain is expected to rise leading to an increase in freight costs, therefore, the cheapest mode of transport, i.e., sea freight will be used extensively for small and bulk loads.
Consistent Growth in International Trade: Trade with major international partners such as Asia, Europe, Africa are expected to increase after passing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) by EU and Canada in 2017, improving trade relations between Belgium and Morocco; however, the maximum demand is expected from Asian countries, especially China, Indonesia and Taiwan (due to a growing middle class-young population, which generates a huge demand for consumption) and limited demand from Eurozone, since it is grappling with a Euro crisis.
Analysts at Ken Research in their latest publication “Belgium Freight Forwarding Market Outlook to 2025 by Mode of Freight (Road, Sea, Air), by Cargo Volume (Sea Freight, Air Freight, Road Freight), by International Flow Corridors (Europe, Asia, NAFTA, Middle East, Africa and Others) and by Domestic and International Freight” believe that the Freight Forwarding market in Belgium is expected to grow due to adoption of advanced technologies, heavy investments in rail infrastructure, fast growth in belly capacities of aircraft and usage of modernized freight fleet by air and higher usage of sea freight post Brexit.
