Lime plaster is a type of plaster
formed out of sand, water, and lime. It is similar to lime mortar, however the
major difference is based on its use and area of application than the
composition. Mortar for lime plaster is typically prepared by a proportionate
mix of sand and lime for improvising the strength, a slight quantity of cement
is added to the mixture. Lime plaster practices a light, clean, and durable
surface that is resistant to weather and mold.
Lime plaster is also used for
repairing and defending walls from rain, but it also allows the walls to dry
out. Cement stuccos retain water and can cause serious loss to earth walls in
cool climates. It is penetrable and permits diffusion and evaporation of
moisture. It has a high pH that turns as a fungicide, meaning fungus will not
grow in lime plaster. Plaster prepared from lime as it is less brittle and has
a smaller chance for cracking the cement plaster and involves no growth of
joints. It is less impacted by water and will not so often or dissolvable as
drywall and earthen or the gypsum plaster. Unlike the gypsum or the clay
plaster, lime plaster is further durable enough to use and render on the
exterior of buildings.
According to study, “Global
Lime Plaster Market Status (2015-2019) and Forecast (2020-2024) by
Region, Product Type & End-Use” the key companies operating in the global
lime plaster market are Packed products, Limebase Products, Tagawa Sangyo, Eden
Lime Mortar, Rockcote, Limebase Products, Hanson, Lime Works, Graymont,
Bericalce
Based on type, lime plaster market
is segmented into hydrated lime and non-hydraulic lime. The key difference
between the two of its type is that hydraulic lime sets through hydrolysis that
has reacts with water whereas non hydraulic lime sets through carbonation which
reacts with air. Non Hydraulic Lime is bit softer and more flexible than its
hydraulic equivalent and sets at bit slower ratio. Hydraulic Lime sets faster
and is bit more durable being similar to properties related to cement. This
creates hydraulic lime ideal for exterior work as a lime render, especially
when damp conditions are expected. In addition, based on application, market is
segmented into masonry, plasterboard and wood-fibre insulation panels.
The construction sector is one of
the key source of industry for the lime plaster demand, as lime products are
combined into numerous building materials and plaster is mostly used for
manufacturing plasterboard, which further fitted into residential and
commercial buildings. The diverse nature of industry demand has moderated the
limiting effects of declines in some downstream industries, coupled with robust
rise in construction activity. The market is further driven by increase in
disposable incomes, rapid product modernization and growth in industrial
advancements. However, high cost of lime plaster may sway the market. Moreover,
rise in industrialization is a key opportunity for market over the forecast
period.
In upcoming years, it is estimated
that future of the market will be bright as a result of growth in
industrialization during the forecast period.
