Flow sensors are special devices, used to measure the rate of fluid flow directly or inferentially. Direct measurement involves measurement of volumetric flow rate of the fluid. Additionally, inferential flow measurement involves the estimation of flow rate by measuring other fluid parameters including temperature, pressure, mass etc. Flow sensors are classified into various types: turbine flow sensor, electromagnetic flow sensor and thermal mass flow sensor. Turbine flow sensor is used for flow measurement and dosing applications for liquids. Electromagnetic flow sensors detect the flow by using the Faraday's Law of induction. There is an electro-magnetic coil inside an electromagnetic flow-meter, that generates the magnetic field, and electrodes that capture the electromotive force or voltage. In addition, thermal mass flow sensors use thermal properties of the fluid for measuring the flow of a fluid flowing in a pipe or duct.
As per analysis, “Global Flow Sensors Market Status (2015-2019) and
Forecast (2020-2024) by Region, Product Type & End-Use” the
key companies operating in the global flow sensors market include GE
Measurement & Control: Dresser, Krohne, Delphi Automotive LLP., ABB LTD,
Freescale Semiconductor, Infineon Technologies, AZBIL (YAMATAKE), Mcmillan
Company, Omega Engineering, Analog Devices Inc., Motorola Solutions, Raytek
Corporation, Honeywell International, Meggitt Sensing Systems and among others.
The leading players in the global flow sensor market have particularly targeted
the end-users for instance healthcare, oil & gas, and automotive &
transportation, and have also increased investment for the purpose of providing
innovative products or services for smooth flow measurement process in end-user
segments.
The flow sensors market is driven by increase in penetration of
IoT in flow rate measurement solutions, followed by growth in demand for
advanced flow meters across water & wastewater sectors and oil & gas.
However, high initial costs of advanced flow sensor products may impact the
market. Moreover, increase in modernization in the products offered in the
market, rise in wave of new technologies for instance ultrasonic & magnetic,
continuous development in technologies and rise in research & development
activities are key opportunities for market.
Based on geography, the North-America is a leading region in global flow sensors market owing to presence
of a large number of vendors and growth in demand from chemicals, oil &
gas, and power generation industries across the region. The Asia-Pacific region
is expected to exhibit substantial growth rate due to rise in use of innovative
technologies & equipment for efficient operations adopted by manufacturers
on a large scale over the forecast period. Additionally, the Europe region is
also expected to exhibit higher growth rate due to rise in demand for chemical
& petrochemical products during the forecast period. It is estimated that
future of the global flow sensors market will be bright as a result of growth
in demand for accurate flow measurements during the forecast period.
